Another debate is between the coonhunters and the big game hunters. We hear all the time how you don't need a registered dog to run big game and that the pure lines don't have what it takes to get the big game treed under tough conditions. This statement is only partially true. You don't have to own a pure bred, registered dog to tree big game...but...if you're going to feed a dog, why not feed one that has the value that a good registered dog from a proven bloodline, provides? You say it's because registered lines can't get the job done?
The coon hunters defend against the statements offered up by the big game hunter by saying something like, "our dogs could do the job as well as your dogs do but we never get the chance to chase mountain lions and bears". Come on boys and girls, this is as lame an excuse as I've ever heard. In some cases, it might be true but, if you're going to say something, at least say something that has some clout to it.
Where am I going with all of this? I'm glad you asked!
If you've been through the pages on our web site, you know by now that what you were looking at is something special.
We like to think of our hounds as TRIPLE THREATS. All this means is that we have a line of hounds that can win in the SHOWS, they can win in UKC COMPETITION COONHUNTING events and they can get the job done for BIG GAME.
If you want proof, look through the photo pages of our site. Look at the titles that have been achieved by our hounds. They didn't make the title of DUAL GRAND CHAMPION because someone just gave it to them...they earned it by meeting some tough criteria in UKC competition hunts and shows.
Look at the photos, you can see young Redbone hounds treeing on mountain lions, bobcats and bear. The people who own these dogs aren't feeding them because they're "pretty", they are earning their keep under some tough conditions and under very tough and very real circumstances.
When you add it all up, this is the line of Redbone hounds that has an awful lot to offer and there are plenty of good, young dogs out there to prove it.
If you're thinking about getting into the Redbone Hound breed, call or email us and get your reservation in for one of these hounds, it will be the best decision, related to hunting hounds, that you'll ever make.
